A typical beehive inspection, showing and training volunteers about the different class of bees, what Ripe Honey, nectar, pollen looks like on frames...etc.. Your Bee master wearing protective clothing as usual...

(P.S.: These are my girls; I know each and every single one by name... so we are very friendly to each other.... the hard task is thinking of new names.... A strong beehive has about 60.000 members.... and to remember them....

May 2017,

The Detroit Golf Club is winning the most beautiful and flowery setting for their girls....

The question is do the girls appreciate this attention and will they reward Chef Patrick Srock with an abundant Honey harvest?

This month is dedicated to all my new beekeepers!

Some have conquered their fears, while others just owned the moment; but all share the same... A big smile...and a newfound appreciation for these amazing creatures...

To all of you - Congratulations...

April 2017,

First Event: The GM Earth kids day (bring your kids to work day) at the Warren plant.

The kids had a lot of fun. The drawing contest was a huge success; choosing the best drawing will be difficult! Two winners will see their drawing copied on the two hives located at the GM plant next to door 6.

Kids also got to see the inside of a hive (minus the bees). They got to  see and touch the frames of wax, learn the different stages and recognize honey frames. This also included breaking honey cell with their fingers to extract Honey for immediate tasting.. Yummy...

Of course all this was done while wearing the appropriate clothes. So many pictures were taken by parents and myself to preserve this experience.. Look at the grins on their faces -  they are so happy.. I am looking forward to seeing these kids and their parents during the hive inspections this year.

The Bees are under attack!

This year the wasps are in full war mode and invasive.

This is the result of a wasp trap after 24 hours;  dead wasps three inches deep...

Nope, I do not care about these wasps;  I  have no remorse..... Do Not Touch my girls...

Wasps can kill bees in flight to eat their guts..

Sorry, I have no mercy for them.

March, 2017

Spring is around the corner.

Sadly, this winter has been pretty hard on the bees. Maybe they decided to keep Francois company! So far the commercial hives suffered about a 50% loss.

After some cleaning and ordering packages, I am ready for a new and hopefully very successful season.  By late April or early May, it will be time to install the new Michigan and Ohio raised and overwinter nucs.

I want to thank the following commercial customers and the personal supporters that have either joined us or renewed their involvement in  caring and supporting the bees.

I am so proud of my youngest Beekeepers!

They are not to afraid of the bees and learn so fast...

So attentive to even the decoration details. Look at the sign they made for the door leading to their backyard apiary.

So cute..
